KNUST MURDER: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED? ⚠️

The tragic murder of Miss Joana, a final-year student of KNUST, has left many questioning the circumstances surrounding her death. Many students and members of the public find it hard to believe that her longtime boyfriend, Daniel, could commit such an act after dating her from Level 100 to Level 400. However, the story goes beyond what meets the eye.

Troubled Relationship History

According to sources, Joana and Daniel had been facing serious relationship issues and had visited the KNUST Counselling Centre more than five times. Due to their ongoing problems, Joana’s father advised them to separate, but Daniel, who was deeply obsessed with her, refused to let go.

A friend of Joana also revealed in an audio recording that Joana had previously confided in her about Daniel physically abusing her. She claimed that he had slapped her twice, but despite this, she forgave him because she loved him.

Events Leading to the Tragic Incident

Two days before the unfortunate incident, Joana reported her phone as stolen to the KNUST security, though it remains unclear what action was taken regarding the case.

On the night before her death, Joana and Daniel were at the Biological Sciences Library studying. They left between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM, accompanied by two other colleagues who later went their separate ways.

While walking back to their hostel, an argument broke out between the two. In a moment of uncontrollable rage, Daniel pushed Joana to the ground and used his knee to press down on her neck for approximately two minutes, ultimately strangling her to death. Realizing what he had done, he shook her lifeless body for about five minutes before dragging her remains to the Centre for Disability Studies. He then sat with the body for 14 minutes, took her laptop, and walked away as if nothing had happened.

Afterward, Daniel hid the laptop behind Flint Hostel and returned to his normal routine. Shockingly, he showed up for his exams that same morning, wearing the exact shirt he had on while committing the crime.

Investigation and Arrest

Daniel initially denied any involvement in Joana’s disappearance. When questioned by his friends, he claimed that she had asked him to walk ahead after their argument. He said that when he turned around moments later, she was nowhere to be found, and he assumed she had taken another route.

Around 6:00 AM, students and passersby discovered Joana’s lifeless body. Reports flooded in, prompting widespread concern over campus security. In collaboration with the Ghana Police Service and KNUST Security Services, the university launched an investigation into the murder.

CCTV footage later confirmed that Daniel was responsible for the crime. A teaching assistant from the Biological Sciences Department helped authorities locate Daniel while he was writing his exam in the same bloodstained shirt. He was arrested and arraigned before the Asafo court, where he was remanded into custody. His final hearing is scheduled for March 17, 2025.

Unanswered Questions

What exactly led Daniel to take Joana’s life over what he described as a “minor argument”? What was his true motive?

These questions remain unanswered, but after the court hearing on March 17, 2025, the Ghana Police Service and KNUST management are expected to provide further details on the case.
